Audit logs & access

Every action,
on the record.

BusinessVault records who did what, to which record, and when, with the before and after. Role-based access decides who can do it in the first place.

What gets written down every time.

One approval, taken apart. Every piece below is stamped on the entry the moment it happens, and none of it can be changed afterwards.

A

What was touched

The record the action was taken on and the area it sits in, linked straight back to it.

B

Kind of action

Upload, approval, access change or export, so you can filter the log down to just one.

C

Before and after

What the record said before the change and what it says now, side by side on the entry.

Permanent

Entries can’t be edited or deleted, so the log holds up when someone questions it.

E

Roles

Owner, Admin, Manager or Viewer. Each role has explicit permissions, so people can only do what their role allows.

F

Who and when

The person and the exact time, stamped on every entry without anyone typing it.

One approval, as the log saw it.

Every step behind a single subcontractor approval, each one stamped as it happened.

  1. Invited

    R. Kaur sends Brightline Electrical their invite link from the subcontractor list.

  2. Uploaded

Brightline uploads three compliance documents through the link.

  3. Reviewed

    R. Kaur opens each document before deciding. The views are logged too.

  4. Approved

Status moves from Pending review to Approved, with the before and after on the entry.

  5. Exported

A dispute comes up. The trail is filtered to Brightline and exported in seconds.

Setting up who can do what.

The log records everything from day one. Setting up is about deciding who should be able to do what.

  1. Day 1

    Define your roles

Start from Owner, Admin, Manager and Viewer, and set what each can view, create, update and delete.

  2. Day 1

    Assign your team

Give each person the access they need and no more. Changing someone’s role is logged as well.

  3. Any day after

    Review and export

Filter the log by person, date, action or record, and export it as CSV or PDF when someone asks.

Questions people ask.

What gets logged?

Every change, view and decision in BusinessVault, with a timestamp, the person who took it, the record affected and its before and after state.

Can anyone edit or delete log entries?

No. Entries are permanent once they are written.

What roles are there?

Owner, Admin, Manager and Viewer. Each has explicit permissions to view, create, update and delete each type of record.
